I’m a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter—and sometimes an okay friend (on a good day). I decided to start writing this blog for a few reasons. First, I needed a place to hold onto our stories. When you live from one extreme to the next, you can get a little numb to the wildly unbelievable, somehow-we-survived-that moments.
Second, I wanted a space where the real stuff gets to exist—the messy, the funny, the slightly unhinged, and the deeply meaningful. Because this life? It’s not always picture-perfect, but it is very, very real.
My husband and I met and fell in love in a total rom-com kind of way in a seasonal beach town in Maine. We got married, had our first son, and pretty quickly realized he had disabilities. Like most new parents—honestly, like most parents of any child—we had absolutely no idea what we were doing (and some days, still don’t…we just look more confident now).
These are our life stories. Maybe they’ll make you laugh. Maybe they’ll scandalize you just a little. Or maybe they’ll help you feel less alone and give you some ideas for advocacy along the way.
No matter why you stopped by—or what made you stay—welcome. I’m really glad you’re here.
